Capable of Grief
Poodles are hunting dogs, originally trained to retrieve ducks
Mostly now we have trained them as lap dogs, as companion animals. Some people think of them as tiny humans in dog suits*. Our political /cultural assumptions as humans, is that as the top species, we can buy and sell them, dress them up, we can control their existence.
None of the above talks to the way we integrate dogs into our lives, or the way we grieve when their short lives are ended.
